Area election filings

Erath County

STEPHENVILLE -- David Lengefeld has filed for the Democratic nomination for State Representative, District 59. Becky Farah has filed as a Republican for the same postion. District 59 includes Erath, Comanche, Hamilton, and Coryell counties.

Incumbent Allen Place is not seeking re-election.

Latrelle Cain, has filed as a Democrat for justice of the peace, Precinct 2, a position currently held by Bill Zachary, a Democrat, who has filed for a third term.

Knox County

KNOX CITY -- Knox County Sheriff Dean W. Homstad has announced he will run for his first elective term on the Democratic ticket.

Homstad was appointed by county commissioners on Oct. 15 after the resignation of Mike Carlson.

Others who have filed to run, also as Democrats, are:

-- Penny Goodwin, for county treasurer.

-- Ronnie Verhalen, for county clerk.

-- Charles Pankhurst, for re-election as justice of the peace, Precincts 3 and 4.

Mills County

GOLDTHWAITE -- Latest filings in the Democratic Primary include:

-- County-District Clerk Beulah L. "Patty" Roberts for re-election.

-- Marilyn Tiemann for justice of the peace.

-- Carroll Bunting for re-election as commissioner, Precinct 2.

-- James Miller for commissioner, Precinct 4.

Mitchell County

COLORADO CITY -- Three people are the latest to file to run for Mitchell County offices in the Democratic primary. They are:

-- Sharon Hammond, who will run for her third district clerk term.

-- Scott Martin, who is running for county commissioner, Precinct 2, a position for which incumbent Carl Guelker has also filed.

-- Glenda Haltom, incumbent justice of the peace for Precincts 1 and 4, is seeking her third term.

Young County

GRAHAM -- Latest filings in the Democratic primary include:

-- Randy Balderson of Graham, for re-election as justice of the peace, Precinct 1.

-- Stan Mahler of Olney, for re-election as justice of the peace, Precinct 3.

-- Ken Andrews for re-election as county judge.

-- John Hawkins for re-election as county commissioner, Precinct 4.
