Game to benefit children
Children of the Texas Midwest who need hospitalization will
be the beneficiaries of Friday's Abilene Prairie Dog game against
the Amarillo Dillas.
Part of the game's proceeds will benefit the children by supporting
the Children's Miracle Network for Meek Children's Hospital at
Hendrick Medical Center.
Tickets cost $5 each and are currently on sale for that game
at Sam's Club and the HMC Foundation office.
CMN tickets bought in advance can be exchanged at the Prairie
Dog ticket outlet at H.E.B. for reserved seats. If not exchanged,
the tickets are good for general admission at the baseball game.
Several family oriented activities are planned for the evening
at Crutcher Scott Field, including a free children's carnival
with entertainment booths. The game starts at 7:05 p.m.
The Children's Miracle Network Manager-for-the-Night contest
has started. Local businessmen are collecting donations for CMN.
The one who collects the most money will be honorary manager and
will go on the field with the Prairie Dogs.
Contest participants are: Tim Crowe, controller for John Crowe
and Associates, Inc.; Gene Keesee, traffic division commander
for the Abilene Police Department; and Robert Pollan, vice president
of Hendrick Medical Development Corporation.
All funds generated through these efforts will go directly
to Meek Children's Hospital, which serves local and area children.
