Director resigns

Phyllis Conn, executive director of the Volunteer Center of Abilene, has resigned effective at the end of the year.

Conn said she plans to stay at home a while to "catch up on all the things I haven't had the time or energy for in the last four years, plus taking on remodeling projects I've put off." The center, funded entirely by contributions, helps non-profit organizations recruit volunteer help for special projects and continuing operations.

Conn did not say anything about who her successor will be.
