Grand Prairie man in serious condition after
accident
By TANYA EISERER / Abilene Reporter-News
A Grand Prairie man remained in serious condition Thursday
in Hendrick Medical Center after a one-vehicle wreck Wednesday
night near Lake Fort Phantom.
Anthony Nailor, 27, was in the critical care unit at Hendrick,
said Abilene Traffic Officer Tom Cunningham.
Nailor was flown by FirstFlight to Hendrick with liver lacerations
and internal bleeding after rescuers found him at the bottom of
the spillway.
A 14-year-old Abilene boy was also taken by FirstFlight to
Hendrick, where he was treated for a broken nose and abrasions
and was released.
The vehicle's other four passengers suffered relatively minor
injuries.
Nailor, the driver, apparently left the scene and wasn't found
until almost an hour after the wreck, Cunningham said.
"At some point, he must have decided that he might die
if he didn't get some help because he started to holler for help,"
Cunningham said. "He was the one that was hurt most seriously.
As a matter of fact, I didn't think he was going to live."
Cunningham said Nailor was traveling northbound on Farm-to-Market
2833 when he rammed into a utility pole at the y-shaped intersection
with Farm-to-Market 1082.
"He was going too fast for that curve," Cunningham
said. "There were a lot of skid marks."
None of the car's occupants were wearing seatbelts, he added.
