Science Fair begins today
The annual Abilene area Science Fair begins today at the Abilene Civic Center.
According to the fair's coordinator, Lucinda Lee, approximately 100 students have entered projects for this year's event, which is sponsored by the Junior League.
That number, she said, is slightly lower than years past because today is a student holiday. Most of this year's entrants are on the junior high level.
Students will begin setting up their projects today from 7-noon. Judging is tonight from 7-9 p.m. The public and schools are invited to come view the projects from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday.
The Science Fair will culminate with an awards ceremony Tuesday, beginning at 7 p.m.
Various businesses and professional organizations will award students with certificates and cash prizes. The first-place winners of this year's fair will go on to the state competition.
