Retired couple needs help for great-grandchild
People who have worked for many years are supposed to enjoy
their life of retirement.
Unfortunately, situations arise that can prevent this from
happening.
"We are a retired couple who are living on SSI and VA
checks," one woman writes Goodfellows, "all the while
trying to take care of and raise our great-granddaughter who is
5 years old."
Not only have these adults outgrown their child-rearing days,
but they also are recuperating from health problems.
He had cancer, and she had surgery to replace a heart valve.
The great-grandparents are trying their best to raise the girl
in the proper environment.
"We are doing fine, but we are broke," she said.
They are seeking food, clothes and toys for the youngster and
would appreciate any help you can give them.
