Goodfellows campaign kicks off
Now more than ever, Goodfellows needs your help.
With the price of toys rising, and more families asking for
Goodfellows' help this year, it's vital to surpass the official
$50,000 goal, Goodfellows chairman Steve Ellinger stressed.
Last year, Goodfellows helped nearly 700 families, and this
year applicants have topped 700, Ellinger said. Though the official
deadline for applying has passed, Ellinger said some additional
instances of demonstrated need may be considered.
The Junior League of Abilene (677-1879) handles certification
of applicants for assistance. Interviews will be set up to verify
applicants' needs.
United Way furnishes toys and clothes to underprivileged families
and Christmas baskets of food for their families.
You may mail your contributions to Goodfellows, Box 30, Abilene
79604. And you can drop any spare change into "Pennies for
Goodfellows" jars in stores scattered around town.
