15th annual event draws to a close

The 1997 Bonanza Cutting came to a close Sunday afternoon. Seven straight days of cutting was the agenda for the 1997 Bonanza Cutting with most of the cutters coming into Abilene several days earlier for works before the actual Bonanza Cutting started. This marked the 15th consecutive year for Paul Crumpler of Wichita Falls to host this event in Abilene.

"This had to be the smoothest year yet, we had very few problems and that is fantastic when you put on an event of this size. Abilene attracts the cutters, everyone enjoys coming to Abilene and we look forward to next year when all the new improvements will be completed at the Taylor County Expo Center."

The name that kept coming up all week would be "Wood," both Kobie and Paula Wood were very successful with their fine horse Chitah Cash, this is a remarkable horse with the ability to place and win for both competitors. Paula won everything in the Non-Pro 4 Year-Olds and Kobie placed high in the rounds in the Open 4 Year-Olds. This horse you will see alot more of, and has the makings of Champion that will be around for a long time.
