1997 Bonanza Cutting

The Bonanza Cutting start at 8 a.m. today at the Taylor County Coliseum with four classes - $5,000 Amateur Any Age, $10,000 Non-Pro Any Age, $20,000 Amateur Any Age and the $50,000 Non-Pro Any Age.

The sport of cutting takes total commitment, especially when you enter the top shows. The fees for the Bonanza Cutting will cost the cutter anywhere from $650 to $1,500 just in entry fees, and this doesn't include any extras, like feed, training, vet bills, tack, or meals and lodging for there stay in Abilene.

But, on the other hand if you get that perfect cut, you have the opportunity to share in major dollars, especially here at the Bonanza Cutting where $100,000 is added to the prize money. This is another reason to be totally committed when you ride into the herd for your 2-1/2 minutes.

You've got to be ready to "cowboy up" when you enter at the major cuttings. The groups that will be working today may be in the Amateur and Non-Pro divisions, but they are as tough and seasoned as the Pro and Open riders. Very few if any mistakes will be seen today at the Taylor County Expo Center Coliseum. The classes will run all day and into the evening.

The event is open, free of charge, to the public.

Make plans to go out and watch this fantastic cutting event and take time
