Angelo State only team to remain unbeaten in Lone Star

By The Associated Press

Chris Brazzell had a good catch-touchdown ratio that helped Angelo State blast Abilene Christian 42-10 and remain the only unbeaten team in the Lone Star Conference.

Brazzell caught six passes for 170 yards and three went for touchdowns for the Rams (6-0, 5-0). Aric Sardinea ran for three more touchdowns as the Rams ran away with the LSC showdown with Abilene Christian (5-2, 3-2).

In other Lone Star games: Texas A&M-Commerce (3-4, 3-2) beat West Texas A&M (4-3, 3-2) 21-14; Eastern New Mexico (4-3, 2-3) beat Tarleton State (2-5, 1-4) 26-20; Southwestern Oklahoma (2-4, 2-3) beat Southeastern Oklahoma (2-5, 2-3) 21-11; and Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-1, 5-0) beat Midwestern State (2-3, 0-3) 30-7.

Texas A&M-Kingsville dominated Midwestern from the start. Torie Edwards rushed for two touchdowns and John Humphrey ran for another and the Javelina defense held Midwestern to 17 total yards and a minus-26 yards rushing.

In Eastern New Mexico's victory over Tarleton, Bruce Hatch scored one touchdown and ran for 186 yards and Bryan Cocking kicked four field goals.

Texas A&M-Commerce got big games from Matt Morris and Deon Creag to hold off West Texas A&M. Morris threw three touchdown passes and Creag broke up a pass with 12 seconds left in the game to stop a West Texas drive.
