Indians steamroller Southwestern Adventist
McMurry University scored five runs in the first two innings
and Byron Pierce pitched four shutout innings as the Indians rolled
to a 16-1 win over Southwestern Adventist Tuesday in a college
baseball game.
After scoring one run in the first inning, the Indians tacked
on four more in the second to secure the lead for good.
Gus Beuershausen singled in two runs in the inning and Frank
Beck singled in another.
Following a two-run fifth, the Indians had a five-run seventh
and a four-run eighth.
Adam Martin singled in two runs in the inning, and the other
three runs scored on Knight defensive mistakes.
In the eighth inning, Lynn Boyd, Gilbert Martinez, Beck and
Martin had RBI hits.
Pierce allowed only four hits in four innings while Matt Penk
allowed just three hits in five innings of relief. The Knights'
only run came in the ninth inning on a ground out.
The Indians roughed up Knight starting pitcher Kevin Klein
for 12 runs on eight hits.
