WhiteWings take six-run victory
HARLINGEN - Jess Olivares had three hits and three runs scored
as the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings stopped the Abilene Prairie
Dogs, 11-5, Friday at Harlingen Field.
The WhiteWings, 12-4, remained a half-game behind Alexandria
in the second half of Texas-Louisiana League play.
The WhiteWings banged out 17 hits and took advantage of four
errors and other misplays by the Prairie Dogs to jump out to an
11-1 lead before holding on for the win.
Jay Davis added two hits, two RBI and a pair of runs scored
while Kevin Clark was 2 for 2 with a 2-run homer and Mike Cantu
added a pair of RBI.
Michael Fox (1-4) got the win, limiting Abilene to five hits
and one earned run in seven innings of work.
Hank Lott (0-1) took the loss, allowing 11 hits and nine runs,
eight earned, in four innings of work.
Jason Keith was 4 for 4, his second four-hit game, and scored
twice.
Jason McClure was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI as his average stayed
at .413.
Tonight, John Baack (3-4) will face WhiteWings ace Ryan Whitaker,
who leads the Texas-Lousiana League in wins with a 9-2 record.
