WildCatters complete sweep
TYLER - Ray Davis hurled a one-hit shutout as the Tyler WildCatters
completed a three-game Texas-Louisiana League sweep of Abilene
with an 8-0 win Wednesday.
The Prairie Dogs return home for their final homestand of the
season, a seven-game homestand beginning tonight against the Lubbock
Crickets.
Tyler's Davis gave up a first-inning single to Darryl Monroe
for the only hit he allowed in the game. He struck out nine and
walked just one.
Abilene left-hander Hank Lott, the losing pitcher in the game,
battled Davis in a pitcher's duel until the WildCatters scored
two runs in a fifth inning on a double-play groundout and an error.
Tyler loaded the bases on Lott in the sixth. Reliever Chip
Mercer hit a batter to force in a run, and Chris Cassels added
an RBI single.
Cassels belted a two-run homer off Jeff Matulevich to cap a
four-run eighth inning for the WildCatters.
