Bulldogs hold on to beat Floresville, 63-60

KERRVILLE - Wylie held off a fourth-quarter rally by Floresville to take a 63-60 win over the Tigers in a first-round boys basketball game Monday in the Kerrville Tournament.

Wylie led 16-12 after one quarter and 34-22 at halftime before Floresville put together its second-half rally.

"At one time, we were up 14 in first half," Wylie head coach Kirby Chandler said. "We forced a lot of turnovers in first half. In the third quarter, we looked like we had been off for holidays.

"I was pleased with our play in first half - we played with intensity. In the second half, we played tentatively. We were too relaxed."

Dean Beasley scored 20 points to lead Wylie and Grant Gregg added 16.

Wylie plays San Antonio Lanier at 3:30 p.m. today. Lanier defeated Manor 98-60 and downed Laredo United 77-58 on Monday.
