Granbury 76, Wylie 52

GRANBURY -- After staying close for the first half, the Wylie boys basketball team faded in the second half of a 76-52 loss Friday night to Granbury.

The Bulldogs trailed just 34-29 at the half, but the Pirates outscored Wylie, 21-8, in the third quarter and 21-15 in the fourth period to pull away for the victory.

"We just came out lethargic in the third quarter -- we didn't have very much energy," said Wyile head coach Kirby Chandler. "I overheard one of our players say that we really got whipped on the boards and I have to agree."

The Pirates out-rebounded the Bulldogs, 42-26, and also connected on six 3-pointers while Wylie had just one.

"Size-wise, there is not a great difference between our teams -- we just got out-hustled in the second half," Chandler said.

Dean Beasley led Wylie with 16 points.

Friday's game was the last for Wylie for 10 days. The Bulldogs are not scheduled to play again until they take to the court in the Kerrville Tournament on Dec. 29.
