Midland High 54, Wylie 47

BIG SPRING -- Wylie battled back to tie Midland High in the fourth quarter, but turnovers eventually led to the Lady Bulldogs' 54-47 loss Saturday night in the third-place game of the Howard College Classic.

"We just turned the ball over too many times late in the game," Wylie head coach Randy Courtney said. "I thought we played well in the tournament, and I don't think there was a team that played any harder than ours.

"Midland High's got a good outfit, but we came back on them. We did the same thing when we were down 16-2 to Big Spring. We've got sophomores at the No. 1 position and they're only going to get better."

Wylie trailed 17-12 after the first quarter and 29-22 at halftime before closing to 40-37 entering the fourth quarter.

Wylie, 2-2, was led by Meredith Ripley with 19 points while Bliss Williams added 7.
