ACU takes both men's and women's title
STEPHENVILLE -- Abilene Christian University easily swept to
both the men's and women's titles Saturday in the Lone Star Conference
cross country meet at Hunewell Ranch.
ACU had the top two finishers in each division as the Wildcats
successfully defended their conference titles in both divisions.
Vivian Ruitjers and Fred Valdez finished 1-2 in the women's
division as the Lady Wildcats scored 26 points. ACU had three
other runners among the top 10 finishers. Angelo State was second
with 53 points.
In the men's division, Musa Gwanzura and Fallody Moonga were
1-2 for ACU as the Wildcats won with 34 points. Texas A&M-Kingsville
was second with 51 points.
With 11 men's teams and 13 women's squads competing, Saturday's
meet was the largest conference cross country meet in LSC history.

ASC meet
IRVING -- Mississippi College won both the men's and women's
titles Saturday at the American Southwest Conference cross country
meet. The race was run on a wet and windy course at the University
of Dallas.
McMurry finished second in the men's division, led by David
Chandler who finished second and Mitchell Wolowicz of Buffalo
Gap eighth.
KiKi Carthel was 11th and Jessica Thompson of Abilene 12th
to pace McMurry to a third-place finish in the women's division.
Times were several minutes slower than normal because of the
wet, muddy conditions.
