Woods ambivalent on 2002 Cup

The final putt hadn't hit the bottom of the cup to seal the United
States' rout in last week's Presidents Cup when the focus switched
to the 2002 event, which will be in South Africa. For many, the
success of that event will hinge on Tiger Woods' participation;
he is ambivalent.
It was a lot of fun when we played in Australia (in 1998),
he said. It was just (that) it was a long way to go. I've
been told they are looking at putting it right after The Tour
Championship. We'll see what happens.
Some players on the International team, including Greg Norman,
have challenged Woods and the Americans, stating they have an
obligation to support golf by playing abroad.
Woods had a response.
I do that already, he said. I play all around
the world, and that's one of the things I love to do. I find it
very ironic that Greg would be the one to say that when he's not
going to go down and support the (Andersen Consulting) Match Play
in his own country.
