Fan dons tiger suit to gain autograph

TIGERMANIA: Dressed in tiger stripes from head to toe, 16-year-old
Rebecca Herron deserved the prize Thursday for the most resourceful
ploy to get Tiger Woods' attention during the first round of the
U.S. Open.
She donned the mascot's uniform from her high school, Holy
Child in nearby Potomac, in a valiant effort to "get an autograph
or maybe have his picture taken with me."
It worked. Woods signed a pennant for her, a rare moment in
a week in which he's evaded almost all autograph requests by surrounding
himself with security guards.
There were drawbacks, however. For one thing, Herron said she
was baking hot wearing a football-weather outfit on a very humid
day. Also, her twin sister, Jessica, said she was "kind of
nervous" walking around with someone in a tiger costume.
But it was an ingenious eye-catcher. After all, a bright orange
and black tiger definitely does not blend into the crowd at a
golf tournament.
