Woods lead by one stroke after two complete
rounds
HOUSTON (AP) - Tiger Woods declined treatment for a pinched
nerve in his neck, then made three birdies to complete his second
round at 5-under 66, giving him a one-stroke lead over Davis Love
III and Chris Perry in the Tour Championship today.
The field of the top 29 money-winners faced 18 more holes today
at Champions Golf Club, which was pounded by intermittent showers.
Players returned to golf today after attending a moving memorial
service Friday in Orlando, Fla., for U.S. Open champion Payne
Stewart, who was among six killed in a plane crash Monday.
Stewart, No. 3 on the money list, was not replaced in the field.
Several players wore bracelets that said "WWJD" -
What Would Jesus Do - that were handed out during the memorial
service. Stewart wore the bracelet when he won the U.S. Open in
June.
Woods sustained what was described as a stinger in his left
arm hitting through a baseball-sized rock to get to his ball at
the 15th hole Thursday.
He arrived about an hour before his tee time today and said
he felt fine. Then he went out and made three birdies in the rain
to reach 9-under 133 through 36 holes.
Perry birdied the final two holes to complete a 64 and was
at 134. Love, who led after the first day of 27 holes, made one
bogey and had a second-round score of 70.
